Lyric Opera Baltimore was formed by the The Lyric Foundation in 2009 with the intention of restoring grand opera productions at the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric.         

The Baltimore region has a substantial and sophisticated audience for opera and Lyric Opera Baltimore is committed to bringing grand opera back.   The theatre is undergoing an extensive back-stage renovation during 2010-2011.  Throughout this time, Lyric Opera Baltimore will present inventive operatic events and musicales to continue to raise awareness of our efforts. Donations from these events, as well as a separate significant fund-raising effort, will be used as seed money for the future of grand opera in the newly renovated Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric.
